Step 1 — Get the pump.fun app
Download pump.fun, the only place these coins are launched and traded — and buy your first SOL right inside it with Apple Pay, card, or bank transfer.
What pump.fun is
pump.fun is the launchpad where nearly every Solana memecoin is born. New coins appear here constantly, trade against a bonding curve, and 'graduate' to the open market once they hit enough liquidity. If you want to trade pump.fun memecoins, you start on pump.fun.
The good news for beginners: the pump.fun app now lets you buy SOL directly from inside it, so you do not need to go anywhere else for your first purchase.
Install it the safe way
Only ever install the official app. Search ads and copycat domains with slightly different spellings exist purely to drain new wallets.
- iPhone: open the App Store, search 'pump.fun', check it is the official listing.
- Android: open Google Play, search 'pump.fun', same developer check.
- Laptop / desktop: go to pump.fun in your browser (note the dot).
- If a link looks off — extra letters, a different ending — do not use it.

What you are buying and how much

Reading a coin page
Every coin page shows the same handful of things. Learn these five and you can read any launch.
- Market cap: what the whole coin is currently valued at.
- Bonding curve progress: how close it is to graduating to a full liquidity pool.
- Holders: how many wallets own it, and how much the biggest ones hold.
- Chart and trades: live buys and sells as they happen.
- Contract address: the coin's unique ID — the only reliable way to identify it.
Your first buy
Buying is one field and one button: enter an amount of SOL, press buy, and approve the trade. Selling is the same in reverse, in percentages of your holding.
Make your first buy tiny — the equivalent of a coffee. The goal of trade one is to complete the loop, not to make money.
